Jalandhar: Election Commissioner of India Sukhbir Singh Sandhu today conducted a comprehensive review of the purification of electoral rolls in Jalandhar. He was accompanied by Chief Electoral Officer Punjab Cibin C., District Election Officer Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal, and Commissioner of Police Dhanpreet Kaur.
During the review, Mr. Sandhu emphasized the need to remove discrepancies in the electoral rolls to ensure accuracy. He particularly stressed maximum enrollment of young voters aged 18-19 years, stating that their participation would further strengthen ethos of democracy at the grassroots level.
He also directed officials to focus on improving the gender ratio and Electoral Participation (EP) ratio in the rolls. Additionally, he called for the deployment of Booth Level Assistants (BLAs) across all constituencies to facilitate voter registration.
Mr. Sandhu instructed Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) to hold regular meetings with Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and ensure their proper training as per the guidelines of the Election Commission of India.
The meeting was attended by EROs and other senior officials, who pledged their commitment to ensuring a fair and transparent electoral process.
