Effect of Kolkata Murder Case, PCMSA announces suspension of OPD services on August 16

Chandigarh: Protests and demonstrations are going on across the country against the Kolkata Rape-Murder horror. Residential doctors and their respective organisations have called for strike. Doctors have demanded fulfillment of their demands and arrest of the accused in this case. Doctors in different states also are staging protests and lending support to protestors in Kolkata.

In view of it, The Punjab Civil Medical Association (PCMSA) has announced a statewide suspension of the OPD Services. The OPD services will be suspended at all Public healthcare centers on August 16, i.e. tomorrow. It should be noted that OPD services will remain shut but emergency and medico-legal services will continue and there will be no hindrance in it.

The purpose behind carrying out protests is that victim family should be provided justice as soon as possible and doctors should be provided at public health care centers.

In the wake of the protest, RDA which stands for Resident Doctor Association of Government medical College and Rajindra Hospital Patiala called for improvements in the security measures at the college administration.
