Efforts continue to form Mayor in Jalandhar MC; Congress, Independent councilors join AAP

Jalandhar: After MC elections, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders have started their efforts to form a majority in the Jalandhar Municipal Corporation and elect their mayor. A woman who defeated former mayor Jagdish Raj Raja’s wife Anita Raja has joined AAP. Additionally, an independent councilor has also joined the party.  Even after two new additions, AAP still needs two more councilors, which is why AAP ministers Harbhajan Singh ETO, Ravjot Singh, and Mohinder Bhagat are working to convince councilors to join their party.

According to information, Cabinet ministers ETO and Ravjot Singh managed to convince Praveen Vasan, the councilor from Ward number 65, and Seema Rani, an independent councilor from Ward number 81, to join AAP late last night. Afterward, Minister ETO shared a post on his social media account.

AAP needs more leaders to secure a majority. This means they will have to rely on independent candidates and the opposition for support. The opposition may demand the positions of Senior Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayor in exchange for their support. Only after this will the AAP be able to elect its mayor. As of now, AAP, which has won 38 seats, is focusing on convincing independent candidates.
