Ludhiana: In a horrific incident, an 85-year-old elderly has been charred to death at his accommodation within Central Jail Ludhiana. The deceased has been identified as Jamaldin.
The incident occurred on Thursday night whereas the matter came to light after family members returned to their quarter in central jail Ludhiana after celebrating Eid in Malerkotla.
The family members were shocked to find their quarter which was on fire and the elderly burnt to death.
Police was informed about the matter later. According to the police, it is an incident of robbery and miscreants seemed to have set elderly on fire after stealing valuables.
The family members stated in their complaint that Rs 1.20 lakh cash, two gold rings and other valuables are also missing.
The Police have registered FIR under section 460 of IPC.
