Amritsar: An encounter between the police and the gangster late Sunday night in Amritsar. The police had gone to arrest 22-year-old Sahil, an accused wanted in four different criminal cases. But on seeing the police, he started running and opened fire on the police. The gangster has been injured in police retaliation.
According to the information received, the police chased him and reached Majitha Road Bypass. Where the police and the accused came face to face. During this, the accused opened fire on the police, in response to which the police also opened fire. In the encounter, the accused Sahil got shot in the leg and he got injured. The police arrested him and admitted him to the hospital.
How did the encounter happen
Giving information about the case, ACP Arvinder Meena said that the police had received information that Sahil, the accused wanted in four different cases, was hiding somewhere in the city. The police went to arrest him late at night. When the police reached the accused, he tried to run away as soon as he saw the police.
The police chased him and when they reached near Majitha Road Bypass, the accused’s motorcycle slipped and he fell down. Even after falling, the accused did not give up and opened fire on the police. In retaliation, the police also fired, in which the accused got injured.
Criminal record of the accused
According to the police, Sahil is a resident of Faizpura area on Fatehgarh Chudiyan Road. He is named in four different cases, which include serious crimes like snatching, robbery and possession of illegal weapons. The police were searching for him for a long time, but he was continuously absconding.

He appealed to the public to inform the police about suspicious activities, so that crime in the city can be completely curbed. At present, the police is interrogating the accused and his other criminal cases are also being investigated.
