Encounter breaks out in Moga to nab criminal, latter shot in leg in retaliatory fire

As part of the campaign against drugs and crime, the Punjab Police surrounded a shooter near Ramu Wala village in Moga district and encountered him. The accused was shot in the leg, after which he was brought to the hospital for treatment. According to information, the accused had fired at a house in Dalla village a few days ago.

SSP Ajay Gandhi said that the accused had fired outside the house of a panchayat member in Dalla village on February 12. A case was registered in the police station under attempt to murder and other sections. The Moga police was investigating the case from every angle. During the investigation, it came to light that a person sitting abroad had carried out this incident. The police had identified the accused involved in the case.

In this regard, the Moga police had received information about this accused. When the police team including the SHO arrived, a person named Aman, a resident of Tiwana Kalan (Fazilka), who had several cases registered against him earlier, opened fire indiscriminately on the police team to escape from the fields. The accused fired three rounds at the police and the police fired two rounds at the accused in retaliation. In the retaliatory action, the accused was shot in the leg and was immediately taken to the hospital.

They said that the accused belonged to the Bambihe gang who was planning to carry out another incident here. Four cases have already been registered against the accused. More details will be revealed after thorough interrogation.
