New Nishan Sahib design unveiled: Embracing Blue and Yellow

Amritsar: In every Gurudwara Sahib coming under Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), now instead of saffron colour, only navy blue or yellow colour Nishan Sahib will be hoisted. These orders have been issued by Shri Akal Takht. After the order, SGPC has asked all the Gurudwaras to implement it.

This decision was taken in the meeting of Jathedars of five Takhts held on 15th July at Shri Akal Takht Sahib. After the decision, a circular has been issued to implement the orders. In the meeting of five Singh Sahibs, a decision was taken to remove the dilemma of the colour of the dress of the Nishan Sahib.

It has been said in the order that now the colour of Nishan Sahib at every Gurudwara Sahib. Orders have been issued to the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee to implement it.

After the orders given by Sri Akal Takht Sahib, now SGPC has issued a circular. The circular issued by the Dharm Prachar Samiti has orders to Sikh preachers to create awareness among the Sangat and Gurdwara management about Sikh Rahat Maryada. According to the information, the process of restoring the original colour in SGPC-managed Gurdwaras will be started soon.

At present, Nishan Sahib is mostly seen in saffron colour. Most of the gurdwaras also have saffron-coloured Nishan Sahib, while in the gurdwaras managed by Nihang groups and their cantonments, it is in maroon colour.
