Shambhu: Today marks 70 days of Kisan Andolan 2.0 on Shambhu and Khanori border whereas farmers’ protest continued on the sixth day today on the Shambhu railway track demanding the release of farmers arrested by the Haryana Police.
As per the farmers, Navdeep Singh Jalbeda, Gurkirat Singh and Anish Khatkar have been arrested by the Haryana Police.
Kisan Panchayat today
It has been a month since the hunger strike of arrested youth Anish Khatkar in the jail. In this regard, a Kisan Panchayat has been organized by the Sanyukt Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha on April 22 at Khatkar Toll Plaza, Jind.
Big farmer leaders from both forums will arrive and important decisions will be taken by the Haryana Police regarding the release of farmers imprisoned.
Speaking from the stage of the dharna going on at Shambhu railway station, farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher welcomed the large delegation of farmers and women from the land of Majha and said that the government should not be under any illusion.
He added that women are standing with us in this fight, he said that power of women plays an important role in any struggle and now when it is harvest time, the farmers have gone to their fields for harvesting. This time, women are coming forward and taking charge which shows that farmers will not back down as long as the struggle continues.
Effect on Trains due to farmers’ protest
As many as 73 trains on the Ambala-Amritsar route were cancelled while many diverted on Sunday as farmers continued to squat on tracks at the Shambhu railway station. Cancellation and diversion of trains is causing inconvenience to passengers and financial problem to the Railways.
