In response to a call from the Samyukt Kisan Morcha, several farmer unions, including Kirti Kisan Union, BKU (Rajewal), Kul Hind Kisan Sabha Punjab, and others, staged protests across five locations in Sangrur district. The protests were aimed at addressing delays in paddy procurement and shortages of DAP fertilizer.
The roads that were blocked included the Sangrur-Barnala road at Bahadurpur village, the Sangrur-Dhuri road at Ladda village, the Sangrur-Patiala road at Bhawanigarh, the Lehra-Jakhal road at Lehra, and a road near the Grain Market in Chhajli village. The blockades lasted for four hours, from 11 am to 3 pm, after which normal traffic was restored.
Leaders and members of various farmer organizations emphasized that they would escalate their protests if their demands were not met promptly. During a sit-in on the Ludhiana-Sangrur highway near the truck union in Malerkotla, protesters from the Bharti Kissan Union (Kadian), BKU (Dakaunda Buta Buraj Gill), and Kirti Kisan Union reiterated their threat to intensify their agitation if the administration did not hasten the procurement and lifting of paddy immediately.
