Farmers released from 3 Punjab jails, warn govt for demolishing front at borders

Farmer leaders lodged in various jails across Punjab were released on Friday morning. Farmers walked out of Patiala, Muktsar and other jails with fists raised. Those released included Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM) leader Sarwan Singh Pandher and Sanyukt Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) leaders Kaka Singh Kotra and Abhimanyu Kohar.

All of them were detained on the evening of March 19 while returning from a meeting with central and Punjab ministers in Chandigarh. They were sent to various jails, while fasting farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal was taken to the PWD Rest House in Jalandhar and then shifted to a private hospital in Patiala.

After the release, several farmer leaders gathered at Gurdwara Dukh Niwaran Sahib in Patiala. They later decided to visit the hospital where Dallewal is admitted.

The farmers said they would assess the situation before deciding their future course of action. They are expected to participate in protests at Deputy Commissioner offices across Punjab later in the day.

After being detained on March 19, the farmer leaders, including Sarwan Singh Pandher of KMM and SKM (non-political) leaders Kaka Singh Kotra and Abhimanyu Kohar, were released from various jails in Punjab on Friday morning.

The leaders announced that they would assess the situation before taking their next step, with plans to join protests at Deputy Commissioner offices across Punjab later in the day.
