Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema inaugurates petrol pump of Central Jail Patiala

Patiala: Punjab Finance, Excise and Taxation and Planning Minister Harpal Singh Cheema today dedicated the petrol pump of Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) built outside Central Jail Patiala to the people. On this occasion ADGP Jail Arunpal Singh, IG Jail Roop Kumar Arora, Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sahni, and CJM of IOC  Piyush Mittal were present.

Speaking on this occasion, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, continuous work is being done for the all-round development of Punjab. Under this series, the work of installing new machinery for the work of prisoners in the jails of Punjab is going on. He said that  12 petrol pumps are also being installed outside the jails in the state.

He said that so far 4 petrol pumps have been installed at Ludhiana, Rupnagar, Hoshiarpur, and Ferozepur and today the fifth petrol pump has been dedicated to the residents of Patiala. He said that by setting up a petrol pump, the revenue of the jail department will increase and this money will be spent only for the improvement of the jail department.

He said that this petrol pump (Ujala Fuels) will be operated by the inmates and well-behaved prisoners. He said that the persons who are serving time in prison due to one or the other reason will get an opportunity to improve themselves while staying inside the prison and now due to the efforts of the prison department, they will get an opportunity to perform their duties outside the prison as well. He said that with this the prisoners will be able to keep themselves mentally and physically healthy and also they will get income.
