FIR against 'doctored Video' of Partap Singh Bajwa's Statement on Majithia case

Chandigarh: Chandigarh Police have registered an FIR against an unidentified media handler associated with the Aam Aadmi Party, following a complaint by Punjab Leader of the Opposition, Partap Singh Bajwa.

The case pertains to the circulation of an edited video allegedly misrepresenting Bajwa’s remarks concerning the conduct of Punjab Vigilance officials during a house search involving MLA Ganieve Majithia. The search was carried out after the arrest of her husband, Bikram Singh Majithia.

The FIR has been registered under Sections 336 (4), 356, and 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.

Cabinet Ministers Harpal Cheema and Aman Arora have been named in the FIR for allegedly posting the doctored video on their facebook handle. The police, however, have not named AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal and CM Bhagwant Mann in the FIR, as demanded by Bajwa in his complaint.

Bajwa has lodged a formal complaint with Chandigarh Police against former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann, Finance Minister Harpal Cheema, Cabinet Minister Aman Arora, and their associates, accusing them of fabricating and circulating doctored videos intended to malign his political image.
