Fire breaks out in Ludhiana’s Hardware showroom, takes 13 hours to be doused

Ludhiana: The fire that broke out at Ashoka Hardware showroom near Aarti Chowk in Ludhiana, Punjab at 3:30 pm yesterday was extinguished at around 4 am the next day which is today. The fire was so fierce that all the goods kept in the showroom were burnt to ashes. The readymade kitchen chimney and other goods were lying in the showroom of Hardware items.

More than 20 firefighters were engaged in extinguishing the fire throughout the day whereas more than 80 fire tenders were engaged to extinguish the fire. Efforts were made to extinguish the fire by breaking the lintel of the third floor of the showroom and calling a special ladder machine. The fire subsided several times, but then flared up again. The firefighters also alerted the nearby shopkeepers and evacuated them from the shops.

Fire officer Dheeraj Sharma said that the message of fire in Ashoka Hardware reached the fire department at around 3:45 pm. At the same time, the fire brigade team left for rescue. Today the whole day was spent in extinguishing the fire here. The entire fire brigade staff is doing rescue. Today a special ladder vehicle has also been called here.

We have been carrying out rescue operations continuously since afternoon. The number of water tanks is not counted. The front gate of the showroom was uprooted with a JCB, after which a pit was dug in the lintel and water was sprinkled. After a lot of hard work, the fire was brought under control at around 4 am.
