Chandigarh court jails suspended AIG Sidhu in murder case till August 20

Chandigarh: Former AIG of Punjab Police Malvinder Singh Sidhu, who shot and killed his son-in-law in Chandigarh court, has told the police during interrogation that his son-in-law Harpreet came out of the mediation room and threatened him to sign the agreement; otherwise, two more cases are ready.

Sidhu told the police that he had many false cases registered against him in 2023, due to which his life was ruined.

Malvinder Singh Sidhu was produced in the court on Tuesday after two days of police remand. The police did not try to get further remand in this case. The police had sought 14 days of judicial custody of Sidhu, which was approved by the court. Now he has been sent to jail till August 20.

The police will still try to get more remand in this case. On Monday the police had searched Sidhu’s house. But they did not find the license of the pistol used in the accident from his house. Sidhu says that he has an all-India license for this pistol. Given this argument, the police will demand further remand from the court today.

The post-mortem of the deceased Harpreet Singh was conducted on Monday at PGI, Chandigarh. During the post-mortem, two bullets were removed from his body. Today his body will be handed over to the family. His family originally lived in Sector 68 of Mohali. The mother of the deceased Harpreet Singh has demanded a CBI inquiry in this case. The mother alleges that the Chandigarh Police has not made the deceased Harpreet’s mother-in-law and her brother-in-law accused of hatching a conspiracy. Both of them are also involved in this conspiracy. Therefore, this case should be investigated by the CBI.
