Four MLAs in Punjab to tender resignation before June 20, Read to know why

Chandigarh: Four MLAs of Punjab will have to tender resignations before the assembly speaker. The four MLAs who contested Lok Sabha elections and won would have to leave their assembly seats. The four MLAs will have to resign from their post by June 20.

The resignation by the Members of the Legislative Assembly is necessary as then only the Election Commission will be able to initiate the rest of the process.

This process of resignation before taking charge in the Lower House is legally necessary. The notification related to the election of all Lok Sabha MPs has been published in the Gazette of India on June 6, 2024. After their resignation, the Election Commission will start further action for the by-election.

Which Four MLAs will resign?

According to the information, this time in the Lok Sabha elections, two Congress MLAs Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa from Gurdaspur and Congress state president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring from Ludhiana have won the elections. Both of them are MLAs from Dera Baba Nanak and Gidderbaha respectively. Similarly, AAP minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer, who won the election from Sangrur, is an MLA from Barnala. While Raj Kumar, who left Congress and contested from Hoshiarpur on AAP ticket, is an MLA from Chabbewal assembly constituency. He will also have to resign from his post.

All these four MLAs of the Punjab assembly will resign before proceeding to the Lok Sabha.
