Chandigarh: A fraudster posed as a doctor and cheated an elderly man who had gone to get treatment at Mohali Civil Hospital. He fled after swindling twenty thousand rupees from the patient. The accused was exposed when the patient went to the staff to inquire about him.
The patient has complained about this at the post located inside the hospital. The accused has been caught on camera, but no trace of him has been found.
The doctors of the Civil Hospital say that people are treated free of charge in the hospital. If someone asks them for any kind of money, then a direct complaint can be made to them.
Ishwar Dutt Sharma told me that he is a resident of Sector 56. He had gone to the hospital to get an ECG done. He was standing after getting the slip for ECG. Then a person came there. He introduced himself as Sharma Doctor. Then he asked him if he wanted to get an ECG done. He replied yes. After this, he said to wait a little. Inside, the girls’ ECG is being done.
After this, the accused kept faith in the person. Also, tell them that you will do your ECG later; first, you give a blood sample. After this, he brought them to the blood sample room. After that, he told them to come thereafter, keeping their helmets. While the accused escaped from the spot.
Ishwar Dutt told me that when he reached the ECG room from there, he asked the staff present there about Doctor Sharma, and they replied that there was no Sharma doctor there. Then he revealed the identity of that person, and they told them that he had brought the cotton and had gone away with the cotton.
