Golden Temple Yoga Controversy, SGPC issued new rules: Photography banned in Parikrama, allowed only in plaza-corridor

Amritsar: The troubles of social media influencer Archana Makwana, who did yoga in Golden Temple of Amritsar in Punjab, are not decreasing. After the complaint lodged in Police Station E-Division on the complaint of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), now Punjab Police is preparing to send notice to Archana Makwana.

ADCP City-1 Darpan Ahluwalia has told that Archana Makwana will not be arrested directly right now. Preparations are being made to send her a notice. She will have to come here to answer it. Further action will be taken against her only after the inquiry is completed and she is proven guilty.

SGPC came into action after social media post
Let us tell you that Archana has been held guilty by SGPC for doing yoga in Golden Temple. Archana had posted its photo on social media. After this the organization came into action.

A large number of devotees visit the Golden Temple. On June 21, a social media influencer did yoga here, which was strongly opposed by the Sikhs. The SGPC has made some rules for the devotees visiting the Golden Temple. It is necessary for every devotee to follow these rules. These rules have been made so that the sentiments of the Sikhs should not hurt.

Know the rules made for those visiting the Golden Temple

Cigarette, tobacco or other intoxicants, chewing gum, sunglasses and photography are prohibited inside the the Golden Temple. Photography is also not allowed in the parikrama.

Photography is allowed only in the corridor and plaza. For special reasons, permission for photography inside the Golden Temple can be sought from the President / Secretary of the SGPC or the manager of Harmandir Sahib.

You can take a dip in the holy lake, but cannot use soap or shampoo. Swimming in it is prohibited.

Visitors to the Golden Temple will have to cover their head with a cloth (handkerchief, chunni, etc.). If someone does not have clothes, then its facility is available here.

All devotees will have to remove shoes. After this, one will have to enter Harmandir Sahib only after walking in the tank and washing feet. There is a free arrangement for keeping shoes and belongings at each of its entrances.

It is advisable to turn off the mobile phone before entering the Darbar Sahib.

On June 20, Gujarat resident social media influencer Archana Makwana reached Amritsar. Here she bowed her head in the Golden Temple and also did seva. The next day, June 21, was International Yoga Day. Archana came to the Golden Temple again that day and did yoga in the parikrama. While doing yoga, she also took some pictures, 2 of which she shared on social media.

One of these photos was Dhyan Mudra and the other was Shirshasana. Sikh organizations and SGPC objected to this. After the protest on social media, SGPC sent a complaint to the police and an FIR was registered against Archana in Amritsar.
