Chandigarh: Due to the increasing cold in Punjab, the state government has extended the school holidays for children. Earlier holidays were declared in view of cold in the state from 24 December to 31 December.
Today, i.e. 31st December was the last day of the holiday as per earlier orders and educational institutions were supposed to open from tomorrow. But in view of the persisting cold, Punjab government has decided to extend the winter holidays.
The cold has increased and due to this the holidays of children have been increased. Winter holidays in the state have been extended till 7 January. Now schools and all educational institutions will open on 8 January.
Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains in a post on X said, “As per the directions of the Hon’ble Chief Minister, due to cold weather, holidays are being observed in all government, aided, recognized and private schools of Punjab till January 7. All schools will open on January 8.”
Let us tell you that, earlier, school holidays in Haryana have been announced from 1 to 15 January. Schools for children in Haryana will open from 16 January.
