Gumtala Amritsar Police Post Blast: Two smugglers held with arms and ammunition

Chandigarh: Punjab Police has finally arrested the smugglers of the terrorist module in the grenade attack at the Gumtala police post in Amritsar. The accused are residents of Sirsa and Amritsar.

DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav shared a post via Twitter X and said that the two smugglers arrested in the grenade lobbying at the Gumtala police post in Amritsar on January 9, 2025 belong to USA-based terrorists Happy Pasia and Sarwan Bhola.

The DGP informed that this action was taken based on intelligence information, in which the State Special Operations Cell (#SSOC) Amritsar has busted a narco-terrorist module and arrested two operatives.

The two arrested accused have been identified as Bagga Singh, a resident of Sirsa, and Pushkaran Singh alias Sagar, a resident of Amritsar Rural. Both of them were involved in the grenade lobbying at Gumtala police post in Amritsar on January 9, 2025.

According to the DGP, initial investigation has revealed that the arrested accused Bagga Singh is a relative of Sarwan Bhola, who was arrested from Sirsa, Haryana. Sarwan Bhola is the brother of smuggler Ranjit Singh alias Cheeta, who is currently lodged in Bathinda jail in a 532 kg heroin case.

He said that the police have recovered a hand grenade and two modern pistols from the alleged accused.
