Haryana: Liquor smuggling busted in Kurukshetra, accused arrested with 3144 bottles of liquor

Exposing a big network of liquor smuggling from Punjab to Bihar, the CIA 2 team has recovered 262 boxes of liquor and arrested the accused. The police arrested the driver of the Tata Ultra vehicle, Ramesh Kumar, a resident of Solan district, Himachal Pradesh, who was taking the liquor boxes from Punjab to Bihar under the guise of furniture.

The police had received information from an informer that a large quantity of liquor has been loaded in a Tata Ultra vehicle, which the driver along with his companions was planning to send from Punjab to Siliguri in Bihar. Acting on the information, the police started a blockade and stopped the said vehicle coming from Shahabad. The driver tried to escape, but the police caught him. During interrogation, the accused told that apart from furniture items, liquor is also loaded in the vehicle, although he initially denied having liquor.

When the team searched, liquor boxes were recovered from under the furniture items. The liquor boxes contained English liquor of various brands. During the search of the vehicle, a motorcycle and old furniture items were also recovered. The accused driver could not find valid documents or permission letters for the liquor crates and other items, which suggests a large network of liquor smuggling. After this incident, the police have registered a case against the accused under various sections.
