Chandigarh: The Punjab-Haryana High Court has sought full details of all the FIRs lodged against Khadoor Sahib MP Amritpal Singh and his associates. Amritpal Singh and his associates are lodged in Dibrugarh jail under the National Security Act (NSA).
The High Court has directed the District Magistrates (DM) of Amritsar and Moga to present complete information in this regard to the court by February 17. This matter is related to the arrest of Amritpal Singh and his associates and the transparency of the cases registered against them. After this order of the High Court, the administration will have to present all the FIRs and other related documents till date in the court.
Amritpal was arrested in April 2023
Amritpal Singh was arrested by the police in April 2023. Since then, he and some of his associates have been kept in Dibrugarh jail in Assam under the National Security Act (NSA). His supporters and many organizations have raised questions over his arrest.
Case registered under UAPA
MP Amritpal Singh and terrorist Arshdeep Singh alias Arsh Dalla living abroad have also been booked under UAPA (Unlawful Activities Prevention Act). This action has been taken by the Faridkot district police in the case of murder of Gurpreet Singh, a youth associated with Panthic organizations.
The SIT had informed the Faridkot court in writing about adding UAPA in this case. Gurpreet Singh Harinau, former finance secretary of Panthic organizations and Waris Punjab Sanstha, was shot dead by bike-borne miscreants in his village on October 9 last year.
After the death of actor Deep Sidhu, Amritpal Singh, the head of Waris Punjab organization, took charge of the organization, after which Finance Secretary Gurpreet Singh Harinau left the organization.
