Farmer leader protest encircles government over Union Budget

Amritsar: The hopes of the farmers sitting on the Shambhu border since February have once again been dashed when they did not get any share of the MSP guarantee law even in the budget. Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee leader Sarwan Singh Pandher has called it a pessimistic budget.

Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher gave a sharp reaction to the budget and said that Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has set a record by presenting the budget for the seventh time in a row. At the same time, another record has also been made, according to which the farmers have been ignored for the seventh time by the Modi government. He said that this budget is nothing more than a pessimistic budget.

Sarwan Singh Pandher shared a video on his social media handle and said that the population of farmers and labourers is about 70 per cent. There is a budget of Rs 48 lakh crore, out of which Rs 1.52 lakh crore has been given to farmers, which is not even 3 per cent of the budget.

He said that in the budget of only Rs 1.52 lakh crore, it is being said that natural farming will also be encouraged, seeds will be discovered according to the environment, and rural development will also take place, which is impossible. He said that in this budget there is neither a part for the MSP guarantee law nor is there a mention of loan waivers for farmers; there is nothing to employ labourers. Agriculture has been completely ignored.

Negative and directionless budget

Sarwan Singh Pandher said that this budget is negative and directionless. There is no plan or vision for the development of the agriculture sector in it. At the same time, reacting to the matter of employment for the youth, Sarwan Singh said that government jobs would not be available, and what jobs the corporate sector provides.
