IAS officer Parampal Kaur Sidhu resigns from her service

Chandigarh : Shiromani Akali Dal leader Sikandar Singh Maluka’s daughter-in-law and Punjab cadre Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Parampal Kaur Sidhu has resigned from her service.

She has resigned amid speculations of joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Parampal was a 2011 batch IAS officer. She was going to retire in October this year.

Speculations are being made that Parampal may contest on BJP ticket from Bathinda Lok Sabha seat. Maluka is a senior leader of the Akali Dal and has also held the post of Education Minister in the Akali government.

Sidhu was currently the Managing Director of the Punjab State Industrial Corporation. Akali leader Harsimrat Kaur Badal is Member of Parliament from Bathinda seat. Polling for 13 Lok Sabha seats in Punjab will be held on June 1.
