Ludhiana: The new airport being built at Halwara Airbase will be called Halwara Airport. The airport code HWR has been assigned, which is necessary before flight operations begin. The Airport Authority of India (AAI) has requested the Punjab Public Works Department (PWD) to officially transfer the completed civil airport terminal to AAI.
This transfer is essential for the operation of the airport. AAI Chairman Vipin Kumar informed Rajya Sabha member Sanjeev Arora that the date of operations will be decided after the terminal building is officially handed over to AAI by the Public Works Department. The transfer process will be completed soon.
MP Arora raised this issue with the Ludhiana Deputy Commissioner, Jatinder Joshi, and appealed to him to ensure that the Public Works Department officially hands over the new terminal building to AAI as soon as possible, so the airport can be operational without delay. After the airport becomes operational, Air India is showing interest in commercial flights, and airline operations will begin soon.
MP Arora is in constant contact with various agencies and departments of the central and state governments to make this project a reality and bring Ludhiana, also known as the “Manchester of India,” to the global map. This airport will not only serve the people of Ludhiana but also cater to the Malwa region and surrounding areas of neighboring states. Member of Parliament Sanjeev Arora has assured that he will make every possible effort to complete this dream project, the Halwara Airport, quickly, in line with Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s vision.
