Jalandhar: In Jalandhar, Akshay Kumar has extended a helping hand to the family of Padma Bhushan, the late Gurmeet Bawa, a Punjabi folk singer and owner of the longest hair. Akshay Kumar has secretly transferred 25 lakh rupees to Gurmeet Bawa’s daughter Glory’s account.
This help reached Glory Bawa after the video of the condition of her family went viral.
After the separation of the late Gurmeet Bawa and Lachi Bawa, their daughter Glory was facing difficulties. Glory was taking care of her family as well as looking after her sister Lachi Bawa’s children. But since her separation from her sister, she was not getting shows, and the financial condition of the family had deteriorated.
After which Glory Bawa announced to leave India and go abroad, but in the meantime, first DC Amritsar and Minister Kuldeep Dhaliwal gave cheques of Rs 1 lakh each to them. After this, Akshay Kumar has now sent Rs 25 lakh to her for help.
Glory Bawa told me that she got a call from the manager at the bank, after which she got this information. The bank manager told her that someone named Akshay Kumar Bhatia had transferred Rs 25 lakh to her bank account. She is also surprised that she has never met Akshay Kumar to date and has never talked to him.
Gurmeet Bawa was born in 1944 in the village of Kothe, Gurdaspur. At that time, girls were not allowed to study in Punjab, but Gurmeet completed her studies after marriage. Gurmeet was married to Kirpal Bawa. He got Gurmeet to do JBT, and she was the first woman in her area to become a teacher.
Gurmeet was the queen of a very melodious voice. Her husband supported her, and she even reached Mumbai. In the olden days, most of the dialogue in Bollywood and Punjabi films and songs was sung by Gurmeet.
Gurmeet Bawa was called the queen of long haak. To date, no one has been able to break her record. She could hold on for 45 seconds. No one in today’s youth can stay still for that long. But four years ago, her daughter, Laachi Bawa, passed away. After that, she started falling ill, and she passed away three years ago.
