Attempt to rape minor girl in Jalandhar

Jalandhar: In Jalandhar, Punjab, a neighbour tried to rape a minor girl in Maqsudan. The matter came to light when the girl screamed, after which the people around beat up the accused and immediately informed the police of Maqsudan police station.

The police have registered a case in the matter and started further investigation. Soon, the police will present the accused in court and take him on remand. In a statement to the police, the victim’s mother said that her husband had left the children at school as usual and gone to his job. In the afternoon, the 8-year-old girl studying in class 2 returned home.

Meanwhile, a migrant boy living in her neighbourhood tied the girl’s mouth and took her from the spot to the field. Where the accused tried to rape the minor. During this, when the girl started screaming, the people around her immediately gathered. After which, the farmer present on the spot started beating the accused.

When the minor’s father was informed about the incident, he immediately reached the spot. After this, ASI Rajinder Singh, the investigating officer of the Maksudan police station, reached the spot with his team to investigate the crime scene. SHO of Maksudan police station, Bikram Singh, said: The police have registered a case based on the statements recorded by the family. The accused is in police custody; soon he will be produced in court and taken on remand.
