Kapurthala: In Kapurthala’s sub division Sultanpur Lodhi, the police has claimed to have arrested two accused including a policeman in the case of injuring a youth by firing a pistol after an argument while searching three youths riding a bike on village Latianwal via Talwandi Madho Mothanwal Road. However, two associates of the accused are still absconding.
Sultanpur Lodhi police has also recovered the car used in the crime and the uniform of one of the accused from the arrested accused. At the same time, raids are being conducted to search the other two accused who have absconded.
DSP Babandeep Singh said that in the statement given to the police, Kulbir Singh alias Mitthu, resident of village Latianwal, had told that he works as a labourer. Yesterday, he was coming from the village via Talwandi Madho Mothanwal on a bike with Sewa Singh alias Billa and Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi, residents of village Latianwal.
At around 12:50 pm, three youths on a Pulsar bike stopped them on the way. One of them was wearing a police uniform. All three were claiming to be policemen. The youth in uniform searched all three of us.
When he was asked in which police station he was posted, the youth in uniform said that his name was Jatinder Singh alias Vicky, resident of village Kaulpur and he was posted in CIA Jalandhar. While the youths in civil uniform told their names as Sandeep Singh alias Seepa, resident of village Kaulpur and Gopi, resident of Kachhi Saran Jalandhar.
During the search, Sewa Singh alias Billa got into an argument with them.
After which a youth named Gopi took out a pistol and shot Sewa Singh, due to which he got injured. He was immediately admitted to a private hospital for treatment.
According to DSP, police registered a case and formed various teams to search for the accused. During this, police conducted raids and arrested Jatinder Singh alias Vicky resident of village Kaulpur and Jaspreet Singh alias Jassi resident of village Kotla. He said that at the time of the incident, accused Jaspreet Singh alias Jassi was also present with the three accused and the attackers came on bike and car.
Accused Jatinder Singh was absent from Police Line Jalandhar Commissionerate for a long time. He had fallen into bad company and started committing nasty crimes. He said that police teams are engaged to catch the absconding accused Sandeep Singh alias Seepa resident of village Kaulpur and Gopi resident Kachhi Saran Jalandhar. Soon they will also be arrested.
