Jalandhar: Jalandhar Police busted an inter-state drug smuggling racket and recovered 150 kg of poppy from a truck full of military equipment. The vehicle going to Kapurthala was stopped near Bidhipur Railway Crossing of Maqsooda, in which 2 persons were arrested. The arrested accused have been identified as Mangal Singh alias Manga resident of Fattudinga district Kapurthala and Jagdev Singh alias Jaggu resident of Buta village Subhanpur.

A case has been registered in this regard at Maqsudan police station. The preliminary investigation revealed that Mangal Singh and Jagdev Singh along with truck owner Balwant Singh were smuggling drugs from Jharkhand to Kapurthala. The accused took the guise of military equipment to avoid being caught during the investigation.
The police have also contacted the intelligence agency of the army for further investigation. Arrested persons will be produced in the local court and remand will be sought so that their previous and previous relations can be investigated.
A raid is also being conducted to catch the truck owner Balwant Singh. Reiterating the commitment of the police to curb drug trafficking, S. S. P. Khakh warned that all smugglers will be dealt with strictly under the law.
