Jalandhar: 32-year-old youth died with overdose of drugs; injections were found near body

Jalandhar: The body of a young man was found near the Bhargava camp in Punjab’s Jalandhar. It is suspected that the young man died of drug overdose. The deceased has been identified as 32-year-old Rakesh Kumar. The police found some drug injections near the body.

Gurmukh Singh, SHO of Thana Bhargava Camp, said – the said youth died of natural causes. The family has told the police that he fell on the road and died. The deceased was single and had left home to meet a friend. When the body was found, his said friend was suffering on the spot due to lack of intoxication.

But after about 2 hours, the family got information that Rakesh was lying unconscious. Passers-by rushed him to the hospital, where he was declared dead. Rakesh used to work as a waiter.

Rakesh Kumar left his house like everyday. Rakesh told the family that he was going somewhere with his friend. About 2 hours later, a passer-by called that Rakesh’s condition is critical and he is lying near Bhargava Camp Colony. As soon as the information was received, the family immediately reached the spot.

Another youth named Ladi was also apprehended by the family at the scene. According to Ladi, he and Rakesh had ventured out to drink. Ladi claimed that Rakesh consumed alcohol despite his warnings he injected drugs then Rakesh’s condition deteriorated and sadly, he succumbed to his condition and passed away.

Ladi admitted that he used to bring injections and drugs from Undertaker, a drug trafficker residing in the Bhargava camp area. On Saturday too, they brought drugs from him.
