Jalandhar Civil Hospital to be transformed with ultra modern healthcare facilities: MP Sanjiv Arora

Jalandhar: Rajya Sabha Member Sanjiv Arora reaffirmed his commitment to elevating the Shaheed Babu Labh Singh Civil Hospital, Jalandhar, to the standards of private healthcare facilities. During his visit to the hospital, accompanied by MLA Raman Arora and Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal, the MP outlined several rejuvenation plans to bolster the hospital’s infrastructure and services.

Mr. Arora announced the construction of four new ultra-modern operation theatres within the hospital premises. Additionally, he directed the replacement of the outdated sewerage system to resolve waterlogging issues and approved the construction of new toilet blocks in the entire hospital premises. Further renovations include painting, new flooring, wall tiling, rooftop waterproofing, replacing electrical wiring, and signage board installation. The existing emergency ward will also be expanded to add 10 more beds.

In a significant development, the MP sanctioned the procurement of advanced medical equipment, including portable X-ray and laparoscopy machines, to enhance diagnostic and surgical capabilities. He instructed officials to prepare a detailed project report for these upgrades to ensure funding from MPLADS is secured promptly.

Highlighting the importance of accessible healthcare, Mr. Arora urged health officials to maximize enrollment under the Ayushman Bharat Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojna, enabling eligible beneficiaries to access free healthcare services. He also reviewed the ongoing construction of a 100-bed critical care unit at the hospital and emphasized the need for timely completion. He also visited the emergency ward wherein he directed the officials to chalk out a plan for its extention.

Mr. Arora stated that healthcare remains a top priority for the Punjab Government, which has already undertaken transformative measures in this sector. Assuring adequate funding for these projects, he stressed the need for efficient utilization of resources to benefit patients. He added that these initiatives, once implemented, are expected to significantly enhance the quality of patient care at Jalandhar Civil Hospital.

The Deputy Commissioner highlighted that several significant initiatives have been taken to boost healthcare infrastructure in the district. He also assured MP to properly speedily executed of these new projects.

The meeting was attended by Civil Surgeon Dr. Gurmeet, Medical Superintendent Dr. Geeta, Dr. Raman Sharma, and other medical officers.
