Jalandhar: Today i.e. Saturday is the last day to withdraw nominations for the civic elections in Punjab. Candidates will be able to withdraw their nominations today. This process will continue till 3 pm. After which it will be known who is in the fray.
Let us tell you that a total of 11 nominations were canceled yesterday i.e. on Friday for the civic elections. Out of this five were of them were coming under the Municipal Corporation. Also, the candidates who have not got the election symbol will get the election symbol today.
There is a competition between three major parties in the Jalandhar Municipal Corporation elections of Punjab. This includes the names of Aam Aadmi Party, Congress, and BJP. AAP and Congress have fielded candidates in 85-85 wards and BJP has fielded candidates in 84 wards. A BJP candidate arrived late on the day of nomination, due to which she could not file her nomination.
Let us tell you that even before this, many leaders have left Congress and BJP and joined Aam Aadmi Party. However, BJP released the list first. There are 23 wards in the Jalandhar West constituency, 24 in the North constituency, 23 in the Central constituency, and 15 in the Jalandhar Cantt constituency.
