Jalandhar Police Commissionerate solves case of ATM tampering, one arrest

Jalandhar : The Jalandhar Commissionerate Police under the leadership of Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma has solved the mysterious case of ATM tampering within a few hours.

Disclosing the details, the Commissioner of Police said that Deepak Sharma, the owner of the cash loading machine, has complained that on 10-04-2024 he received a call from a customer who tried to withdraw cash from the Hitachi ATM around 04 hours but failed.

Mr. Swapan Sharma said that on physical examination of the ATM, the police party and the bank team found a plastic sheet on the cash dispenser.

The police commissioner said that they also saw an unknown person standing outside suspiciously. He said that the police have started investigating the matter, during which the CCTV footage was examined and the person was found trying to tamper with the ATM.

Mr. Swapan Sharma said that 380,420,454,511 IPC was registered against this unidentified person under FIR 52 dated 10-04-2024 at Police Station Division 5 Jalandhar.

The police commissioner said that during the investigation, the accused was identified as Ravi Pal son of Gurmeet Ram, resident of village Hirapur police station Lambra Jalandhar.

He said that the police has arrested the accused and two cases are already pending against him. Mr. Swapan Sharma said that the matter is being investigated further and the details will be shared later.
