Jalandhar: In Jalandhar, Punjab, the body of a person was found late at night in the Basti Bawa Khel canal. When no diver was found to take out the body late at night, the ASI of the traffic wing of Jalandhar Commissionerate Police himself took out the body.
The ASI took off his clothes and jumped into the canal using a ladder. After which the body was taken out. However, the deceased has not been identified yet. The police have sent the body for a postmortem.
According to the information received, late at night the Jalandhar City Police Control Room received information that a body was floating near the Shaheed Babu Labh Singh Nagar canal and was going towards the Basti Bawa Khel bridge. On receiving the information, the PCR team under the Basti Bawa Khel police station immediately reached the spot. The body was floating but got stuck near the Basti Bawa Khel bridge.
When no diver was found due to late night, ASI Karnail Singh posted in PCI took off his clothes himself and jumped into the canal using a ladder. After which he took the body to the bank of the canal, holding it with his hands, and then, with the help of the people around, the body was somehow taken out.
