ATM robbery in Jalandhar: SBI ATM cut open with welding tools, Cash worth lakhs stolen

An ATM near Laddevali in Jalandhar, Punjab was cut and cash worth lakhs of rupees was stolen.

Jalandhar, July 19: An ATM near Ladhewali in Jalandhar, Punjab was cut and cash worth lakhs of rupees was stolen. The accused had brought a welding set with them, after which they cut the ATM and escaped with it. Some tools and other items were found lying at the spot.

As soon as the accused arrived, he first sprayed black paint on all the CCTV cameras installed inside the ATM so that he could not be traced. Police from the Rama Mandi police station reached the spot to investigate the incident. The ATM belonged to the State Bank of India (SBI). The police have called the bank officials about the matter.

The person who came to open the shutter in the morning saw the ATM being cut

According to the information received, today, i.e. on Saturday morning, when the employee who opened the ATM shutter reached the spot, he saw that the ATM was cut and all the cash was missing. After which he informed the police control room about the matter, and after the police reached the spot for investigation.

 

Supervisor Abhishek was also sent to the spot from the bank. Supervisor Abhishek said- Only bank officials will be able to give information about the cash at the moment. There was no security guard inside the ATM at the time of the incident. This can also be a reason for robbing an ATM.

Eyewitness said- there was no security guard for three years

Dr. Raminder, who runs his clinic near the ATM, said that no guard has been posted here for the last three years. Although police patrolling is frequent, still such an incident still raises questions on security. According to Raminder, this incident happened between 1 and 1:15 in the night. CCTV is installed both inside and outside the ATM.

Dr. Raminder further said- According to the CCTV installed in the clinic, the accused came in a car. The CCTV has been seized by the police. On the basis of the car, the police have started identifying the accused in the case. The car first went a little ahead and then turned back.

ASI said- investigation has been started after registering the case

ASI of Rama Mandi police station who reached the spot for investigation said- Information was given at around 9:30 in the morning that some robbers had cut the ATM and taken it away. Police recorded the statement of a person named Puneet on the spot. Puneet told the police that he opens and closes the ATM shop. Its maintenance is also in his hands.

On Friday at 9:30 am Puneet locked the ATM shutter and left. In the morning when Puneet came to open the shutter at 6:30 am, the locks were broken and the shutter was slightly damaged. When the shutter was lifted and looked inside, the ATM was cut with something and the cash was missing. At present, after clearing the cash with the bank officials, it will be known how much cash was there in the said ATM.
