Jalandhar: A couple riding a scooter came under the grip of an overloaded tractor trolley on Jandiala Phagwara Road in Jalandhar. A 45-year-old woman died in the incident while her husband sustained serious injuries. In this case, the police have arrested the accused tractor-trolley driver. The deceased woman has been identified as Vandana Kalia, a resident of Noormahal. The body has been taken into custody and sent for post-mortem.
According to the information received, this incident happened on Tuesday at around noon. An overloaded tractor-trolley driver hit an Activa riding couple near the T Point on Jalandhar to Phagwara Road. The woman was seriously injured in the incident and died on the spot. The police have taken Vandana’s body into custody and sent it for post-mortem. The police have registered a case against the accused tractor driver and arrested him.
Jandiala police incharge Jasvir Chand said that he had received information from the control room that a woman had died after being hit by a trolley near T Point. When he and his team reached the spot and started an investigation it was revealed that Jagjit Kalia, a resident of Noormahal, had gone to his in-laws’ house in Noormahal along with his wife Vandana Kalia on a scooter (PB-08-FA-9747). During this time, a tractor-trolley overloaded with sand hit them.
The woman died on the spot while her husband sustained serious injuries in this accident.
