Jalandhar: Punjab Vigilance Bureau has arrested Junior Engineer (JE) and Lineman red handed while taking bribe of Rs 5000 in Bhogpur, Jalandhar. The arrested Junior Engineer was posted in Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) Bhogpur.

They have been identified as Junior Engineer Manjit Singh and Lineman Harjeet Singh. An FIR has been registered against the accused in Jalandhar Range Vigilance. Soon the police will take the accused on remand. According to the Jalandhar Vigilance officer, a complaint was given by Sumit Wadhwa, a resident of Sudarshan Park Area of ​​​​Maqsudan. On the basis of which both have been arrested.

This action has been taken by the team of Jalandhar Vigilance officer Sukhdev Singh. Contacting the Vigilance Bureau, Sumit Wadhwa alleged that both the accused had demanded a bribe of Rs 10,000 in exchange for removing the old meter installed at his house and installing a new electricity meter. The said lineman had already taken Rs 5,000 through UPI payment. He was demanding Rs 5,000 as the remaining amount.

On the basis of the complaint, investigation has been started in the case by the Vigilance and the team laid a trap. Both were arrested red-handed in the presence of government witnesses. Both the accused had come to take the second installment of the bribe. During this time, both were arrested. A case has been registered against the accused under the Prevention of Corruption Act in Jalandhar Range.
