Kap’s Cafe Firing Case: BKI denies involvement, issues statement

In the case of firing at comedian Kapil Sharma’s new cafe ‘Caps Cafe’ in Surrey city of Canada, Khalistani organization Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) issued a 2-page letter. The organization said that they have nothing to do with any incident of extortion, threats or violence. Backing out, the BKI said,  “We did not carry out any attack. It is wrong to drag the name of the organization in this way.”

Firing at Kap’s Cafe

On the night of July 10, 9 rounds of firing were done at Kapil Sharma’s Caps Cafe. This cafe was inaugurated by Kapil Sharma on July 7. Then, media reports claimed that Khalistani terrorist Harjeet Singh Ladi had taken responsibility for this attack. Harjeet Singh, associated with BKI is included in the most wanted list of NIA in India.

Letter issued by BKI

In a 2-page statement issued in Punjabi language, Babbar Khalsa said that when the incarnation of Sikhism, Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, raised his voice against the oppressive powers, he made it clear that he does not accept any oppression or slavery. Guru Sahib inspired Sikhs to follow the path of self-respect, freedom, and justice. Following this, the Babbar Khalsa organization was formed.

It further said, “It was written that the purpose of the organization is to protect Sikh religion, community, and sect according to the teachings of Shri Guru Sahiban, but recently some selfish elements are extorting money from people, threatening, and spreading fear in the society using the name of Babbar Khalsa. The organization makes it clear that it has nothing to do with these acts.”

Threatening is against our principles

It made clear that if any person asks for money or threatens anyone in the name of Babbar Khalsa, then it is against our principles. They should stop this work immediately. If anyone misuses our name, strict action will be taken against them.

Claim of firing after Kapil Sharma’s statement

After the firing, media reports claimed that Harjeet Singh Ladi carried out the firing incident at Kapil Sharma’s cafe over his comments against Nihang Sikhs during a comedy show. On social media, Harjeet Singh Ladi and another person named Toofan Singh warned Kapil Sharma to apologize publicly through a video and said that if he did not apologize, the matter could get worse.

Both of them also claimed that they tried to contact Kapil Sharma’s manager several times, which were ignored. Eventually, they had to fire outside the cafe to get the comedian’s attention.
