Khanna: Canter-truck runs over 10-year-old, crashes into car, death on spot

Khanna: A tragic accident took place on Wednesday night on the National Highway in Khanna, Punjab. A 10-year-old child died in this accident. The child was returning home after paying obeisance at Manji Sahib Gurudwara with his neighbor. On his return, a canter truck ran over him. The deceased was identified as Chirag Paswan, a resident of Khatika Mohalla Khanna while the neighbor Bharat, who was driving the Activa, was injured.

According to the information, a young man was lying on the footpath near Gaggadmajra. Passersby gathered there to help him. Seeing the people, a person stopped his car in the middle of GT Road. Meanwhile, Bharat and 10-year-old child Chirag were coming behind on Activa and there was a canter behind them. The canter hit the Activa. The collision was so strong that the child sitting behind, Chirag, jumped and fell on the road. Activa driver Bharat fell on one side. The canter passed over the child and also collided with the car. The child died on the spot.

Road Safety Force immediately reached there for help. Sub Inspector Sukhdev Singh said that first an ambulance was called and the injured Bharat was sent to the civil hospital. Later the child’s body was kept in the mortuary. Along with this, police was called from Kot Chowki and the WagonR car and the canter were handed over to the police.
