Assembly gives green signal to Kila Raipur Olympics in Punjab, Amendment in Animal Cruelty Act for Bull Race

Preparations are underway to restart Punjab’s famous ‘Kila Raipur Rural Olympics’. For this, the Punjab government introduced a bill in the assembly on July 11 and also passed it. If the Governor’s approval is received now, then in February 2026, bull race will be seen again in Kila Raipur, Ludhiana.

This time, changes have been made in the Animal Cruelty Act to legalize bull race. The government has clearly said that during the race, the bulls will not be hit with a stick or any sharp object; they can only be patted with the hand.

According to experts, every bull participating in the bullock cart race will be medically examined, and all the bulls will also be registered. Along with this, it has also been said to promote the bulls of the indigenous breed. After this, bull race competitions will be held in the rest of Punjab as well.

Let us tell you that when the Rural Olympics were held in Kila Raipur in 2025, the bull race was not included. But now that the government has brought a law on it, the MLA himself is promoting it by taking out a procession with bulls, which has become a topic of discussion among the people.
