Late night rain changed weather in Punjab: Still Heatwave alert in 3 districts

Chandigarh : Heatwave is still continuing in Punjab. Strong winds and light rain last night have given relief to people from the heat. According to the Meteorological Department, there are chances of strong winds and rain today as well. Whereas, there are chances of rain in entire Punjab on June 5. After which there will be slight relief from heat and a drop in temperature.

According to the Meteorological Department, strong winds blew last night in Patiala, SAS Nagar, Fatehgarh Sahib, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, SBS Nagar, Hoshiarpur, Amritsar, Gurdaspur and Pathankot and light rain was also reported at some places. After which a drop in temperature has been observed. It is estimated that due to this the maximum temperature of the day will fall by 2 to 3 degrees today.

Orange alert issued in 4 districts

Today, an orange alert of heatwave has been issued in three districts of Punjab, Muktsar, Bathinda and Mansa. While in Fazilka, there is an orange alert for heatwave and strong winds and rain.

Apart from this, yellow alert for heatwave and strong winds has been issued in Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, Kapurthala, Rupnagar, SAS Nagar, Jalandhar, Ferozepur, Faridkot. Apart from this, yellow alert has been issued for heatwave in Moga, Malerkotla, Sangrur, Barnala.

Estimated temperature of cities of Punjab

Amritsar– Monday’s maximum temperature was recorded at 45.9 degrees. Today this temperature will fall by about 2 degrees, after which today’s maximum temperature is expected to be around 44 degrees.

Jalandhar– Last evening’s maximum temperature was recorded at 43.2 degrees. Today there is an alert for rain and strong winds. The temperature is expected to be around 43 degrees.

Ludhiana– Yesterday’s maximum temperature was recorded at 44.1 degrees. Today rain and strong winds are expected. There will be relief from the heat and the mercury may drop by two degrees. The temperature may reach close to 43 degrees.

Patiala– On Monday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 44.6 degrees. Today, it is expected to be cloudy and strong winds are likely. The temperature will remain close to 44 degrees.

Mohali- On Monday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 42.9 degrees. Today, it is expected to be lightly cloudy. The temperature may remain close to 43 degrees.
