Student suicide tragically links to study depression

Punjab: Late at night, a student committed suicide by hanging himself from a fan in the hostel of Punjab Technical University (PTU) located on Jalandhar Road, Kapurthala. After receiving information that the student had committed suicide, the hostel staff immediately pulled him down from the fan and admitted him to Civil Hospital Kapurthala.

Doctor Jaspreet Singh declared him dead got his body kept in the mortuary and informed the police. Science City outpost in-charge Pal Singh said that action is being taken on the statement of the youth’s family members.

Committed suicide by hanging from the fan in the room
According to the information, Rajat, son of Kishan Chand, a first-year student of Punjab Technical University and, resident of Khedi Sujanpur, Himachal Pradesh, committed suicide by hanging himself from the fan in the hostel room late night. After the hostel staff got the information, they immediately pulled him down from the fan and admitted him to the civil hospital for treatment. But the duty doctor declared him dead.

Police kept the body in the mortuary.

Staff members Sanjeev Sharma, Jitendra Narula and Vinay present at the spot told the media that when they got the information, they immediately admitted Rajat to the Civil Hospital with the help of ambulance 108. It is also being said that Rajat was in depression due to the burden of studies.

Meanwhile, Science City outpost in-charge Pal Singh said that based on the statement of the family members of the deceased Rajat, action has been taken and the body has been handed over to the family. He also said that according to family members, Rajat had a lot of study load due to which he was suffering from depression. And because of this he took this step.
