Chandigarh: The hearing of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s interview case from jail was held today (Friday) in the Punjab and Haryana High Court. Meanwhile, ADGP Jail Punjab Haryana reached the High Court in the case of Lawrence Bishnoi interview and mobile phones running in jails while Parbodh Kumar did not appear in court today. It is being said that the next hearing of the jail interview case of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi will be held on September 12.

Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Secretary Anurag Verma and SIT chief Prabodh Kumar appeared through video conferencing, while Punjab ADGP Jail Arun Pal Singh was present in the court. The hearing was conducted by a bench of Chief Justice Sheel Nagu and Justice Anil Kshetrapal.

The AG of the Punjab government told the court that for the last two years, a large number of mobile phones have been recovered from the jails of Punjab. He said that mobile phones are thrown on the walls of prisons. On this, the High Court asked why this problem is not occurring in the jails of Gujarat and Rajasthan and what steps are being taken there.

The court was told that there are proposals to install body scanners, tower block harmonic devices and low-power jammers in Punjab jails to prevent the use of mobile phones. AI-based CCTV cameras are also being installed, through which suspicious activities in prisons can be monitored.

Let us tell you that there are jammers in Patiala, Bathinda, Govindwal Sahib. AI is also working with CCTV technology. There is an idea to spend about 100 crores on prison technology in the next 2 months. Work is also being done to raise the prison wall. Court raised the question that if mobile phones are thrown from the otherside of the wall then why the adjacent area is not kept vacated?

The case of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi was also mentioned during the hearing. The AG said that several cases are registered against Lawrence Bishnoi and he has been brought on production warrants in various cases. On this, the court questioned what action had been taken regarding the interview given from the jail. The government replied that the relevant report had been sealed and sought a week.

Even in today’s hearing, no person from Rajasthan has appeared, whereas during the previous hearing, it was said that Rajasthan should be presented in this case. Advocate General of Punjab said that we have asked the people of Rajasthan to cooperate in this. He assured that he will talk to the Advocate General.
