Lineman of electricity board caught red-handed by Vigilance Bureau taking Rs 5,000 bribe

Chandigarh: During the anti-corruption campaign launched by the Punjab Vigilance Bureau on Thursday, PSPCL Lineman Sukhwinder Singh posted at Office, Focal Point Batala, District Gurdaspur has been arrested red-handed for accepting a bribe of Rs.5,000.

Giving information in this regard, the official spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said that the above lineman has been arrested on the basis of a complaint lodged by Balkar Singh, a resident of Faizpura, Tehsil Batala.

He further said that the complainant approached the Vigilance Bureau and alleged that the above lineman had demanded Rs 5,000 in exchange for sending a proper report about his new home electricity connection.

The spokesman said that after the preliminary investigation of this complaint, a trap was laid by the Vigilance Bureau and the said accused was caught red-handed by accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 in the presence of two government witnesses.

He said that in this regard, a case has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act against the accused in the Amritsar range of the Vigilance Bureau. He said that this accused will be produced in the court tomorrow and further interrogation is going on.
