LS elections: Polling booths in Punjab will be monitor through cameras

Chandigarh : In order to make the election process more efficient and transparent in the Lok Sabha elections 2024, the Chief Election Office of Punjab has taken several new IT based initiatives including webcasting at all 24,433 polling stations in the state.


These new initiatives include the launch of several mobile apps and websites to facilitate voting, facility for voters to report election violations over phone and installation of CCTV cameras at polling stations. This includes monitoring the polling and violation of elections.

Chief Electoral Officer Sibin C said that 100 percent monitoring of polling stations will be done through webcasting so that the election process can be completed in a fair and transparent manner.

He said that CCTV surveillance will be ensured inside all 24,433 polling booths for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Sibin C said that this time the new District Information System (DISE) has been included to conduct the voting in a more efficient manner.

It will be used to manage all aspects of voting, from collecting polling staff data to scheduling rehearsals, randomization and counting of polling staff. The Chief Electoral Officer said that the objective of this modernization is to make voting more efficient, transparent and secure.
