Punjab: Doubling of railway track from Ludhiana to Kila Raipur to boost connectivity and efficiency

Ludhiana: Ludhiana Central MLA Ashok Parashar Pappi, DC Sakshi Sahni, and Municipal Corporation Councilor Sandeep Rishi discussed the rehabilitation of 31 slum families with railway officials and representatives of the families.

Railway officials said that 31 permanent encroachments are on railway land, where they are working on the project of doubling the railway track from Ludhiana to Kila Raipur (17.174 km), which includes 25-kV high-rise railway electrification and signalling and telecommunication works.

MLA Ashok Parashar Pappi assured that the district administration and Municipal Corporation will find a way to rehabilitate these families. At the request of the MLA, Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sahni asked SDM Vikas Hira, MC, and railway officials to take the representatives of the families to the spot and report if any other measure can be taken to avoid the removal of the families from there.

Sahni assured the families that if no viable solution was found, they would be provided with rehabilitation facilities in the best possible manner.
