Ludhiana: Labourer returning home crushed to death by unknown vehicle

Ludhiana: Late last night, an unknown vehicle crushed a young man returning home on foot on the Tajpur Road Highway bridge in Ludhiana leaving him dead. On Wednesday morning, the family reached the police station and demanded action against the driver after identifying him.

The deceased has been identified as 32-year-old Ishwar Singh, resident of Gurmel Park Tibba Road, Ludhiana. The deceased’s brother Bhupinder Singh said that on Tuesday night at around 12 o’clock, his brother Ishwar Singh was crushed to death by a vehicle on the bridge above Tajpur Road. After the collision with the unknown vehicle, the driver fled away from the spot. He told that his brother was a laborer and was returning home on foot after finishing work last night.

The family reached Police Station Division Number-7 and demanded to identify the driver and arrest him. The deceased’s sister, crying in the police station, said that her brother was still unmarried and talks of marriage were going on.

Police station in-charge Bhupinder Singh said that he received a call around midnight that a person was hit by a vehicle near Samrala Chowk Bypass. On reaching the spot, the dead body of a person was recovered and has been sent to the civil hospital for postmortem. The police have registered a case against the unknown driver and started further action.
