Ludhiana MC to get Mayor on January 20

The councillors will be sworn in after the General House meeting on January 20 in Ludhiana, Punjab. During this time, the city will also get a mayor. The General House meeting will be held at Guru Nanak Dev Bhawan. The gathering will start at 11 am. At present, the opposition is busy breaking the councillors who have joined AAP from other parties. Therefore, it is a big challenge for AAP to handle the councillors.

Let us tell you that to elect a mayor, the party must have a figure of 52 councillors. The ruling party has somehow achieved the majority figure by inducting other elected councillors in AAP. In this manipulation, 3 Congress, 1 BJP and 2 independent candidates have joined AAP. Now keeping these councillors united has become a challenge for the ruling party.

Earlier, one councillor from Congress and SAD was brought to their party, who later returned. In such a situation, the ruling party is now eyeing other councillors as well so that the mayor seat can be strengthened by including more councillors.

Now AAP has 47 seats because MLAs can also vote during the Mayor’s election. In this way, their number had become 54 but after the death of MLA Gurpreet Gogi, the Aam Aadmi Party has 53 seats now, while 52 councillors are mandatory for the majority.
