Ludhiana Retired bank employee arrested for posing as fake CBI officer

Cyber ​​Crime Police arrested the accused of cheating a retired bank employee of Rs 64 lakh by posing as a fake CBI officer in Kurukshetra. Chanchal Kumar alias Vicky, a resident of Jagraon, Ludhiana, carried out the crime by digitally arresting the elderly man. The accused will be produced in court and taken on remand. Police is searching for his other accomplices.

According to Vidya Sagar of Kurukshetra, he received a call on November 14. The caller introduced himself as an officer of the Customs Department and cited the seizure of a drug parcel in Malaysia in his name. He said that if he did not surrender to Bombay Police within 2 hours, he would be jailed for 5 years and fined Rs 5 lakh.

The caller made him talk to a person, who, posing as CBI Chief Anil Yadav, threatened him and took information about his and his wife’s bank details, FD and accounts. He threatened that 2 drug cases are registered against him.

He broke the FD and deposited more than 64 lakh rupees in the accounts mentioned by them to settle the case. When they kept demanding more money, he realised it was a fraud and lodged a complaint.

The cyber crime team arrested the accused Chanchal Kumar. 10 lakh rupees had come in the accused’s account, which he transferred to his broker through a cheque. The police are searching for other accused. The criminal record of accused Chanchal is being investigated.
