Major Blow to SAD: Two-time MLA from Banga Dr Sukhwinder Sukhi joins AAP

Chandigarh: In a major blow to Shiromani Akali Dal, Dr Sukhwinder Sukhi who is a two-time MLA from reserved constituency Banga has joined Aam Aadmi Party. Dr Sukhi joined AAP in the presence of CM Bhagwant Mann.

Let us tell you, Dr. Sukhwinder Kumar Sukhi’s family has been associated with BSP. Sukhi contested the 2009 election on a BSP ticket. Later he left BSP and joined the Akali Dal. When the Akali Dal made him a candidate in 2017, he won from the Banga assembly constituency. However, there was a wave in the state against the Akali Dal and BJP alliance. In 2022, only three Akali Dal MLAs won the elections in Punjab. One of these names is Sukhwinder Kumar Sukhi.

In the 2022 elections, Dr Sukhi defeated Dr Tarlochan Singh of Indian National Congress. He also contested the 2023 Jalandhar Lok Sabha by-poll but lost to AAP Candidate Sushil Kumar Rinku.

On joining Aam Aadmi Paty, Dr Sukhi said that the biggest reason for joining AAP is the the way current state government is working. Recounting an old memory of AAP govt swearing in ceremony he said that he was present on the land of Shaheed-e-Azam during the swearing-in ceremony of the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. He added that his demand of a medical college on the land of Shaheed-e-Azam has been accepted by the CM. He further added that a corrupt Tehsildar of Banga was suspended by CM Mann himself on his request.

Regarding the resignation from the post of Banga MLA, Dr Sukhi said that he will take action as per the law.
