Major setback to Sheetal Angural as assembly speaker acepts resignation

Sheetal Angural, MLA from Jalandhar West, Punjab, has suffered a major setback. Assembly Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhawa today accepted his resignation. On this, MLA Angural said that he will challenges this decision and will go to court. He will file a petition in the Punjab and Haryana High Court against this decision of the speaker.

Earlier today, Angural had reached to meet the Speaker at around 11:30 am. However, the Speaker was not present in the Assembly, so the MLA had to return after waiting for some time. He had come to present his side before the Speaker.

While returning, Angural interacted with media and said, ‘I had reached to meet the Speaker, but he was not present in the Assembly. I have come after meeting his secretary. The Speaker is currently in Delhi, due to which he could not meet. Now I have been called again on June 11 at 11 am. I have submitted the letter of withdrawal of resignation to the Secretary, and have taken the receipt.’

I used my democratic right

Angural said, ‘I wanted that by-elections should have been held along with the Lok Sabha elections, as has happened in Himachal. I resigned 69 days before the election, but it has not been accepted yet. It was their wish. It was my democratic right to withdraw my resignation, which I exercised.’

On the other hand, Angural remained silent on the question of leaving BJP. He said, ‘I will not give any answer to this. If the speaker takes any action, I will approach the court.’
